July NewsCongratulations to Craig Wallace who this month passed his professional exams to become a Chartered Building Surveyor. Craig has been working closely with residents and shop owners in Cockermouth, Keswick and Workington following the devastating floods of November 2009.
Day Cummins have been awarded a contract to renovate the Dower House and Grade II Listed building at Rheda Park. The building is currently derelict having last been lived in during the early 1980's. The buildings did have approval for conversion to seven dwellings but this has lapsed. The buildings made of sandstone with tower are set within it's own courtyard.
Work continues within Cockermouth Town Centre, with Day Cummins actively involved in the redesigning new shop fronts as part of a collaboration with Allerdale Borough Council and local shop owners. Schemes include Tiffens, Westnidges and Cleelands.
Construction works has began on site in Coniston within the Lake District National Park to create affordable housing for Eden Housing Association. The first timber frame houses have now been erected on site.
Works are progressing on site with a new Foyer building for young people at the YWCA in Kendal. The works for Impact Housing Association will create fourteen flats along with ground floor meeting rooms for public use. The ground floor steel frame is now completed on schedu
A new extension to Cleator Moor Nursery will be handed over to the client this month in advance of it's opening in September, the new building is exemplary in design offering clean open spaces for the children to enjoy connecting the external and internal spaces.
Our client Castle Inn at Bassenthwaite continue to expand their business with two planning applications this month being submitted to the Lake District National Park.
