Workington Community Hospital
CourtyardWorkington Community Hospital is a new-build PFI facility grouping healthcare services and general medical practices from the former infirmary and other health centres onto a single town-centre site originally occupied by a technical college.

The building is arranged around four landscaped courtyards to reduce corridor distances and maximise the amount of daylight available to interiors. The various parts of the hospital range from single storey to three storeys in height. Facing brick exteriors, tiled roofs and generous overhangs produce a traditional yet also contemporary appearance.

Day Cummins Limited were appointed as architects and were involved in all aspects of design, room layout scheduling, and specification. We also
acted as CDM planning supervisors and provided party wall surveyor services.
