| Our Approach As a guide to our approach to food industry projects and to initiate the briefing process we have set down our current standards of factory design and specification. We produce a document tailored to each project and this is intended to facilitate discussion of prospective client's own specific requirements in the detailed development of proposals. We recognise that individual clients often have very specific requirements. It has been our experience in recent years however that the standard set out below are commonly applied throughout the industry. General Design Principles Food production factories are externally generally similar to other industrial buildings with the exception of the unique requirement to protect and maintain the condition of the product to a very high standard. The standards referred to essentially fall into two categories namely “ High Care” and “ Low Risk.” Food factories are essentially industrial buildings which cover and enclose the production process, the latter determines the form of the former and is usually a linear process made up of the following stages:- Intake > Grading > Processing/Production > Packing > Value Added Processing Terms of Reference from Brief Preparation to Detail Design Stage:- High Care Low Risk Personnel Protection Materials & Production/Process Installations Foodsafe Walls & Ceilings Insulating Materials Specialist Floor Toppings Surface Slip Resistance Production Area Drainage Refrigeration & Temperature Management Mechanical & Electrical Installations |
